Guidelines
to Writing A Report
· Introduction
-
The
beginning of your report.
-
Highlights
the major topic or main points that are covered and provides background
information on why they are collected. It also contains a top view of what’s in
the report.
·
Body
-
The
body of the report describes the issue, the data that was collected from
materials such as poem, short stories, novels, reviews, journals, articles or
research papers.

It
may include tables or charts and discussions with reasons.
-
The
body is usually broken into subsections, with subheadings that highlight the
further breakdown of a point.

Report
writing format is very specific.
- Tables
and figures must all be labeled.

Summary
-
The
summary often exemplifies the examples of the issue mentioned.
- May include your unbiased opinions and suggestions and also other’s view.
·
Conclusion
-
The
conclusion explains how the information/data described in the body of the
report may be interpreted or what conclusions may be drawn.

The
conclusion often suggests how to use the information /data collected and
summarized.
·
Reference
-
The
references section lists the resources used to research or collect
information/data for the report.
-
Credit
must be given where credit is due.
·
Appendix
-
Optional
element.
-
This
may include additional technical information that is not necessary to the
explanation provided in the body and conclusion but further supports the
findings.
